What’s the Darkside of your Interpersonal Relationship?
“Can you give me a list of four people you can call at midnight or when you are in desperate need of something?” Think about it. Do you realize how difficult it might be for some people to name 5 (Five)? Do you see what I mean? This is because it is difficult to initiate effective communication in today’s relationships.
Most of the time, our relationships with other people end for no apparent reason. This could be a romantic relationship, friendship, or family relationship. People criticize politicians and individuals for their negative characteristics and public displays. The same may be true for how people evaluate their love relationships with friends and family members.
One fascinating characteristic of human relationship is how some people believe they are ideal in every way. Unfortunately, the dark side of interpersonal communication makes it evident that some people may be envious, cheats, or have bad relationships because of certain traits they possess.
The narcissistic, Machiavellian, and psychopathological behaviors are all examples of the malicious side of human connections. The dark triad personality is what these three are known for. Do you possess all three separately? As I describe your dark side personality, read along with me. It’s crucial to consider a person’s flaw in addition to their beneficial traits.
Note: You will need to combine your dark and good sides to have a very excellent relationship. As a result, it must be balanced. If your dark side overlaps your good side, you must concentrate on balancing it to maintain good interpersonal relationships with friends and family. I have realized that most people’s dark tendencies outweigh their positive sides, which affect their relationships with others.
Have you ever met someone who can Seriously lie? Yes! I have met a lot of people, including politicians. Aside from politicians, some people are naturally deceptive or liars. As a result, such a person is extremely dangerous and possesses the characteristics of a Machiavellian. These folks are extremely shrewd, crafty, and exploitative. It even breeds distrust among people. Will you have faith in your candidate again if he fails to keep his campaign promises? No, I don’t think so. When we have a Machiavellian trait, this worldview influences our interpersonal relationships. We lie and deceive a lot of people in our relationships, such a person is a Machiavellian.
Next, In a relationship, the other person believes that they are superior to you in every way. for instance, in your social or intellectual life. The person is a narcissist if they demand too much attention for others to find them admirable. Do you believe that someone like that would care about or comprehend the sentiments of others? Absolutely Not. They are preoccupied with power, beauty, and success, and can only be around people who are special or important.
Lastly, He or she may lack empathy and display poor behavior control as a result, which may affect decision-making or ethical behavior. Their actions can be deceptive at times. He or she tends to be antisocial from time to time. Such a person falls into the category of Psychopathology. For example, anxiety, depression, displaying unexpected behavior, and losing control.
Now, Looking at the three, which category do you belong? The dangerous aspect is a person having all these three categories. It will shock you to know that a lot of people have these personalities but they do not know, oh yes we all have this, but how do you control it? Such people will definitely have problems with their relationships with people. For one to control such behavior, one must be self-aware of himself, knowing that he falls into one of the categories, understanding others’ perspectives may also help to avoid being manipulative. Please, note, the first step is to recognize these traits and balance them to live a happy and successful relationship.
How do I Know where I belong?
The Self-Report Psychopathy Scale, the Machiavellian Scale, and the Narcissistic Personality Inventory were commonly employed in most studies to assess each of the Dark Triad qualities (for a review, see Furnham et al. 2013). These methods can assist one in accessing his or her conduct with others as well as comprehending the causes of their behaviors.
